Flick Bowling for the iPhone/iPod Touch
There are many sports applications and games on the iTunes App store, one which caught my eye was Flick Bowling currently on sale at 59p. After a quick look at the description by Freeverse Inc. I was hooked and bought it straight away, from the pictures the graphics looked amazing and I much preferred to use the touch screen to play the game rather than having to literally throw my iPhone around using the accelerometer like in iBowl.
The presentation is perfect and even the cheesy bowling music and sound effects are there, like when you get a strike or spare. I’ve already mentioned the graphics looking great, judge yourself by the photos, but it looks even better when it’s flowing right in front of you. So far so good, the game features a free play and a versus option but that’s it. I was really hoping for some wi-fi multiplayer but maybe that was asking for a bit too much. On the other hand there is the option of playing against the computer or against another person on the same iPhone/iPod Touch. It’s nice that this exists and I’m sure it’ll be useful for those little breaks in the day.
Flick Bowling features 6 3D characters and the ability to choose your bowling ball before you step up to the line. Neither the characters or the balls have any advantages over each other and it’s really just to add depth in the customisable options of the game but I think it’s a nice touch. The way the control system works it is easy to flow quickly through a game if you’re in a rush but also you could take your time and truly relax in the sport -- I’ll be using it for those odd moments when I have 10 minutes spare. Overall the game is well built and definitely worth the £2.99 original price and with the current sale at 59p you’d be mad to miss out!
