Touch Hockey for the iPhone or iPod Touch

Another game from the iTunes App store brings the table hockey game found at your local bar or amusement arcade right to your pocket.  With the touch interface you have to keep your finger down on the screen all the time to control your puck. This means you won’t be playing this game for an extended period of time as it is just too uncomfortable to do so. With this in mind I would try the free version to start with, which contains all the features of the full version with ads showing after 5 minutes -- see how the ad system works in the video below.

The Wi-Fi multiplayer is also promoted on this game but; either it’s not fully working or nobody is using it as so far when I’ve tested it I haven’t been able to connect to anyone.  This was a bit of a disappointment as I was really looking forward to playing against someone online on my iPhone. how cool would that be? Well I’d have to wait a bit longer to find out…The one bug I found with this was sometimes the puck followed your finger and got stuck meaning the game couldn’t play, a simple menu visit and resume play fixed the problem so it’s not serious but not great when showing off to friends.

It is definitely an interesting formula but I don’t think it puts it into the most wanted games. Don’t get me wrong it has been well made and you can see the effort which has gone into it but at the moment I think it lacks something.  Maybe after a few bug fixes and some time of single player tournament it might prolong your attention span.  Also if the Wi-Fi multiplayer kicks off then it might just warrent playing this game but until then I’d give this a pass.
