Happy New Year! But what about the 2009 Resolutions??

Ok, I’m a day late but I was a bit tired and ill yesterday after the New Years Eve festivities but here it goes.  Happy New Year everyone! 2008 is now in the past and for me has been one of the best yet. I’ve been lucky to travel around the world, from visiting the cold snow-ridden Russia in March to the tropical land of China in July and it’s set to continue when I visit New York in 2009. Moving swiftly through the year I started this blog and registered the domain name for once after hours of deliberating and so far I’ve done a good job of constantly updating it with posts and YouTube videos.  Wow. Now that’s something I’m really surprised at, from August I targeted to hit 50 subscribers by the 1st January 2009. I wasn’t that hopeful of getting anywhere near half of them but obviously my videos must be doing something right because as luck would have it I hit that magic 50 on the aforementioned date. I’d like to thank all the people who have subscribed and if you’re reading this and haven’t yourself why not? Go on do it now and join our community.

So I’ve had a great 2008 and look forward to an even better 2009 but can we top it? I wish good luck to everyone out there aiming to achieve things in this new year and as is custom at this period I’ll make up some New Years Resolutions.

  • Become more helpful. We all try and do something good every year and I’m going to do it. Seriously I think I made a good start recently, you should see the YouTube comments/mail I answer.  I’m going to put more effort into any of my helpful blog posts and why don’t you go that extra mile this year for people. Just imagine if everyone in the world just helped that little bit more then all our troubles would go away. I wish.
  • Keep you all updated. It might not be for all of you, but I am going to try and stay committed to the site for the whole year and not just forget it for a couple of weeks. I’ll be posting at least once a week normally accompanied with a few videos but I do have other activities to stay on top of. Trust me if I have an unexpected leave of absence from the site I’ll let you know probably via Twitter (Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter) and I won’t leave you out in the cold wondering what to do.
  • Get Fitter. In today’s world of overweight people and all that promotion of healthy eating you won’t travel far without getting the message.  So this will be the year to sort it out. As you say every year it may not happen but I’ll give it a go -- so I’ll have a rest off the McDonalds and more sport is the answer. I’m going to dedicate some time to “working out” if I can and I’ll let you know how it goes if I start.  I’m sure this one is going to be on many people’s minds this year so come on do it with me, lets get fitter!
  • Stay optimistic. All too many of us, including me, constantly argue over things and fear the worst. Maybe it’s a British thing but it makes society a darker/moodier place. 2009 is going to be my sunshine and I will try my best to bask in that optimism and not be pessimistic. Let’s see how long that lasts, we’ll have to see my videos next Christmas 2009.

There’s my list for me to dwell over for the next 364 days and while I’m here I might as well set my new YouTube subscribers target. Let’s see if I can get 150 by 1st January 2010, thats over 100 new people and I would be so happy I might even do something special…
