Removing the Beer Widget?

Have you noticed in some of your Beer cans that after you’ve drunk it, the can rattles? It’s a floating widget which is meant to (and in my experience does) produce a finer, smooth head on the bear and keep it carbonated.  I wonder how this affects the recycling though?
