The way to exercise – PowerBall Pro Gyroscope Neon Blue?

Photo-0066#1.jpgIf you watched my video on 2009 resolutions a while ago then you’ll have noticed I mentioned,as with every other dick and harry in the country, that 2009 would be the year for exercise and healthy eating.  In a bid to get/keep fit I had a look and bought the PowerBall mixing exercise with gadgetry.  I opted for the Pro model in that I like the fancy lights it generates and also it has a display on the top effectively telling you how good you are giving you the ability to compare yourself to other people which the base model does not.

I bought it from Amazon.co.uk for £14.00 and came exactly as described.  Basically the gyroscopic device inside needs to be kick started with a rip cord (a lot like starting a petrol lawn mower engine but no where near as difficult) and then by maintaining the motion it generates power lighting up some LEDS.  But obviously that’s not all, you need to maintain the motion but rotating the Powerball just with your wrist and the tighter turning circle you make the faster it goes which magically increases the pressure on your hands and arm muscles.  It is harder than it sounds because it is all about getting the right momentum -- you can’t just spin it faster and it goes faster. Trust me it takes a while to get used to it but then you’ll feel on top of the world! You have to in a sense “become one” with the Powerball and rotate your wrist in sync with the spin but hold on tight otherwise it’ll come out your hand!

I’ve read reports that it is good for gentle rehabilitation from sufferes of RSI but also good to build up you muscles and wrist strength which can be especially good for people who use their arms a lot in sport for instance.  Whether that’s true I don’t know but it is pretty cool!  I’m hoping this bit of gadgetry, which not only looks and sounds mega, will actually do something and improve my handicap in Golf. We’ll have to see in 2010 but so far it has impressed me with it’s fun factor but if it is actually doing anything is a different matter….
